Sticky Bourbon BBQ Spare Ribs
Nutritional Information
Meaty spare ribs glazed in a rich, homemade sticky bourbon BBQ sauce that caramelizes beautifully on the grill.
This recipe is originally for 6 servings. How many are you cooking for today?
- 2 racks Spare Ribs
- 1 cup BBQ Rub (your favorite)
- 1 cup Bourbon
- 1 cup Ketchup
- 1 cup Brown Sugar
- 1 cup Apple Cider Vinegar
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
- 1 tablespoon Dijon Mustard
Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C). Remove the membrane from the back of the spare ribs.
Season the ribs on both sides with your favorite BBQ rub.
Wrap the ribs tightly in heavy-duty aluminum foil and bake for 3 to 3.5 hours until very tender.
While the ribs cook, prepare the sauce: In a saucepan, simmer the bourbon for 5 minutes to reduce slightly.
Add the ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, and Dijon mustard. Simmer for 15 minutes until thickened.
Once ribs are tender, carefully remove them from the foil. Preheat a grill to medium-high heat.
Place the ribs on the grill and brush generously with the bourbon BBQ sauce.
Grill for 3-5 minutes per side, brushing with more sauce, until sticky and caramelized. Watch closely to prevent burning.
Let rest, slice, and serve with any remaining sauce.
